Path consultation set for Q1 2023

Updated: Jan 5, 2023

The community council survey in October 2021 gave a very clear message that people wanted to be able to walk and cycle more safely in Tingwall, Whiteness and Weisdale. A couple of routes for paths were proposed, one between Veensgarth and Tingwall Hall and one between Kalliness and Whiteness Hall but the feedback was not universally positive.

Organisations that fund projects like these (such as Sustrans) want to see that the community has been involved in the decision making so Win Furt decided that they would run a consultation exercise to see what routes would be most popular. Following discussions with the council, this has been absorbed into the SIC's work on "Active Travel" (getting people to work and cycle more) and a company called Systra will be running the consultation with local groups in the first quarter of 2023.

The output of this consultation will be a list of options that can then be put to the community for them to decide what should be tackled first. The intention is to tackle one project on the Tingwall side and one on the Whiteness and Weisdale side.
