We are delighted to announce that we have started design work on our first path project. CASE Shetland have been appointed to produce a detailed design for a stretch of combined footpath and cycle path in Gott, running from the Califf/Breiwick junction to the corner of the Laxfirth road.
The work is being funded jointly by Paths For All’s Ian Findlay Path Fund and the Shetland Community Benefit Fund.
This is a really exciting step for us. We have always known that these would be long, hard projects so to get the design work started is terrific news. The goal is to have the design done and a planning application submitted by the end of March.
Paths For all are the main funder for this work, with additional support from the Shetland Community Benefit Fund (SCBF). Paths For All are a government-funded body that are all about getting people out walking. Their Ian Findlay Path Fund supports the improvement of local paths within and between communities and is a really good fit with what Win Furt wants to do. We know that safer walking and safer cycling are a big issue for people locally and it’s great to be able to start to tackle it.
